Cirrus uncinus
Melilla, Spanish North Africa, October 2002

Sometimes the cirrus formation resembles a ski tip, giving the name uncinus. Again at high altitude, just as high as the fibratus cloud.

Cirrus uncinus
Montevideo, Uruguay, January 1999

The ski tip again, this time the whirl is powerful enough to give it a corkscrew look. Same formation later at sunset where at lower altitudes the sunlit cumulus clouds give a nice colour contrast.

Cirrus uncinus
Finspång, Sweden, August 2003

Beautiful uncinus ski tip. Above the far horizon som humilis clouds have been formed.
